Why This Is Important

This law makes it mandatory for women who are seeking an abortion, either from rape, molestation or accidental pregnancy, to be forced against their will to have a probe inserted into their vagina by medical professionals. Unwilllful penetration by an object is rape! Stop this tea party rape law! Stop it before it passes the senate!

The ultrasound legislation would constitute an unprecedented government mandate to insert vaginal ultrasonic probes into women as part of a state-ordered effort to dissuade them from terminating pregnancies, legislative opponents noted.

“We’re talking about inside a woman’s body,” Del. Charnielle Herring, a Democrat, said in an emotional floor speech. “This is the first time, if we pass this bill, that we will be dictating a medical procedure to a physician.” The conservative Family Foundation hailed the ultrasound measure as an “update” to the state’s existing informed consent laws “with the most advanced medical technology available.

Here is a quote from a women who underwent this procedure: “I was literally raped by a woman with one of these things. She assumed I was a loose whore because I was getting an abortion. When I cried for her to stop she literally asked me why I was crying. The thing we must never forget is that the stated motivations are clearly lies. This has nothing to do with protecting “life”, as the overwhelming number of anti-abortionists do not support services and programs designed to aid the children once they leave the womb. No universal healthcare, insufficient to no support for education, no support for the poorest among us (and lets not forget that this is really about the poor as well, the rich can always do what they want, regardless of the law). They also overwhelmingly oppose the things that DO reduce abortion, such as birth control and sex education.

Despite all protests to the contrary, if you’re unwilling to allow women to control their own reproduction while simultaneously being unwilling to support the unwanted children you’re not in it for the children, your’e in it to control women’s sexuality via punishing “whores” and “sluts”. Individuals may not have thought things through, but holding a passionate position without researching it and thinking it through isn’t ignorance alone, it is a failure of ethics.
